Keep the treated area clean
For 24 hours after the procedure, avoid getting the injection site wet and maintain hygiene to prevent infection.
Use deodorant from the next day
For underarm treatments, avoid applying deodorants, perfumes, or other potential irritants until the day after the procedure.
Avoid heat exposure
To maintain effect, refrain from activities that stimulate sweat production, such as saunas, hot baths, or intense exercise, for about a week.
Refrain from alcohol and smoking
Since these can trigger inflammation and worsen bruising or swelling, it is recommended to avoid alcohol and smoking for 3–7 days after the procedure.
How does Hyperhidrosis Botox stop sweating?
Botox works by blocking the release of acetylcholine, the neurotransmitter that signals sweat glands, at the nerve endings in the treated area. Without the signal, the sweat glands do not produce sweat. Results usually begin to appear 2–3 days after treatment, with a noticeable dryness within 1–2 weeks.
When is the best time to get treatment?
For underarm hyperhidrosis, getting treated in late spring (April–May) before wearing thinner clothing ensures a comfortable, sweat-free summer and generally results in the highest satisfaction. For palm or sole hyperhidrosis, symptoms tend to worsen during the high-stress fall/winter months, so scheduling treatment during that time is also effective.
Will I sweat more in other areas as compensation (compensatory hyperhidrosis)?
Compensatory sweating from Botox is very unlikely. This phenomenon usually occurs after surgical removal of sweat glands. Since Botox does not remove the sweat glands but temporarily weakens their function, it has minimal impact on the body's overall sweating system.

This treatment uses the principle of temporarily inhibiting the action of acetylcholine, the neurotransmitter responsible for sweat production. By directly targeting the sweat glands in areas with excessive sweating, it reduces sweat volume and alleviates associated discomfort and odor. At DERNA, we provide customized treatments by precisely assessing the characteristics of each area and the amount of sweat, helping you regain a comfortable daily life.
